Mavis faith in God and Christian example shone through the dark times during the Oka Crisis in 1990. For the sake of starting a movement of forgiveness and reconciliation between Mohawks and non-First Nations, God prepared Mavis to meet Francine. Mavis emphasizes the importance of drawing close to God and praying for our enemies.
