Being abused as a child changed Ivans views on God and the church. Even as an adult his childhood experience still had a negative impact on his relationships with people. In 1998 the Lord led him to the point where he had to deal with these issues through counseling, and where he realized that freedom and healing came from forgiving his abuser.
