In Perfect Faithfulness (Mariena Hackett)
Mariena grew up in an alcoholic home on the west coast and, at age seven, was sent to a residential school. Not taking school seriously, she was expelled in her early teens, started abusing alcohol, and became a single mother. Though she connected with God's people in Vancouver for awhile, her addictions and unhealthy relationships dragged her down. Returning to Vancouver, after time away, the staff at Native Tillicum Centre helped her deal with underlying issues. She committed herself to Christ and was baptized in the mid-1990s.
